"25. Write something every day. Doesn't matter if it’s a bitch-fest against your roommate or the philosophical ponderings brought on by an episode of Breaking Bad. Write a review of everything you encounter: sandwiches, intersections, elevator music. Realize that no matter your stature, about 1% of what you write will ever be seen by anyone but you."

Con #5: Once about 8pm hits on Sunday evening, it’s like somebody died. Everyone gets quiet, there’s high tension and emotion, we make eye contact with one another but nobody wants to speak the thought we’re all sharing. Nobody wants to say, that dreaded term. On Sunday evenings, the word ‘Monday’ is to us, what Voldemort is to Harry Potter — it-which-must-not-be-named. It’s as if we know what we’re facing. Another work week. Another five days of brutal, gruesome, awful work. Okay, so that’s a gigantic exaggeration and we should be grateful to have jobs, but seriously – we need a name for the grievance period that takes place on Sunday nights. Let’s call it Sunday Cerulean. (Cerulean was my favorite Crayola crayon as a kid. It’s a shade of blue. Sunday nights make us sad. Blue means sad. Henceforth, Sunday Cerulean.)

"The most irritating argument I’ve come across is, ‘You haven’t even lived yet! Go out there and kiss a few frogs! Your twenties are for dating around and partying!’ What’s most striking is the assumption that we all want what you want."

A wise guru once said “Women need to be more supportive of each other, stop tearing each other apart. There’s plenty of room for all of us. There’s plenty of men for all of us. There’s plenty of jobs. There’s plenty of room! I really believe it.” The better one woman does, the better all women do.” Granted, the guru was Reese Witherspoon, and although her words of wisdom appeared in the glossy pages of a bible, it was a fashion bible. Still, that doesn’t make her sentiment any less true.

"If you are 25 or turning 25: It will be hard to find people to do drugs with you, so find other stuff to do. Happy hour is great because you can get tanked at what is essentially the late afternoon and be in bed by 9 p.m. It is OK to be in bed at 9 p.m. 25 is young, but you should never apologize for sleep because, like I said, your time to nap was three years ago."

"You find yourself believing that you are too busy for a good, early morning breakfast. Suddenly, that halfway-through-the-day feeling takes over you and you begin to feel cranky, exhausted, and heavy-eyed; soon you discover that your attempt to save time in the morning backfired, and you are miserable.
Your mornings are beautiful, peaceful, and full of high hopes. Starting your day with the Lord is the whip cream on your pancakes, the cheese to your omelette, the creamer in your coffee. Without that wonderful prayer and moment with God in the a.m, your day will feel full of emptiness.
So, eat your bowl of wheaties and read your favorite verse(s) in the bible. Because without that rejuvenating time, you’re going to have that half-way-through-the-day feeling.
Have a wonderful, blessed, delicious morning."

I sincerely wish I knew who wrote this or where it came from but I just found it floating around the internet. Why is it that so many of these things apply to me?

This is probably one of my favorite verses. I’m actually pretty sure I’ve posted about it before. I even have a sticky note with this verse on it at my desk. And it’s written on my mirror in my bedroom…

Michelle Obama shared these words of wisdom with the girls at the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School in London when she was across the pond visiting the Queen.
"Do not bring people in your life who weigh you down. And trust your instincts ... good relationships feel good. They feel right. They don't hurt. They're not painful. That's not just with somebody you want to marry, but it's with the friends that you choose. It's with the people you surround yourselves with. And that's just as important as the school that you choose. Who's in your life, and do you respect them, and do they respect you? And are you respecting them. Right?

"And we as women in particular—and this is such an important message—starting today, you all have to be supportive of each other. You can't be jealous, and push and trip, you know? It's hard enough."

I pray for the willingness to remember that I am a child of God, a divine soul in human form, and that my most basic and urgent life-task is to accept, know, love and nurture myself. As I accept myself, I am accepting God's will. As I know and love myself, I am knowing and loving God. As I nurture myself I am acting on God's guidance. I pray for the willingness to let go of my arrogant self-criticism, and to praise God by humbly accepting and caring for myself.

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
