How to Psych Yourself Up to Wear the Dang Swimsuit

How to Psych Yourself Up to Wear the Dang Swimsuit

5.13.2019

Before our kid-free vacation to Maui last month, I was a little panicked but probably not for the reasons you think. I mean, sure, I had a little anxiety about leaving the twins for six days with relative strangers (grandparents they only see a few times a year), but I was actually more worried about parading around in a swimsuit.

As I faced myself in the mirror in my new cute suit, I was frustrated. I had squeezed in a few extra workouts, removed all the hair on my body (minus eyebrows and head) and even got a spray tan. Instead of admiring myself and thanking my healthy body, I found myself wishing I looked “better.” Bigger boobs! Longer legs! Flatter stomach! I was frustrated that here I was, the proud mom of two crazy toddlers about to embark on an amazing, romantic trip with my husband, and all I cared about was my body in a swimsuit.

we're moving (again!)

4.26.2015

This post has been a long time coming. I've often wondered what it would be like to write these words and finally be looking forward to a longer term plan for our lives. Ever since C and I met almost four years ago, we've been in a state of transition - taking the GMAT, applying to MBA programs, choosing a school, visiting the school, moving to CT, getting married, starting school, looking for a summer internship, spending 10 weeks apart for the summer, looking for a job... it's been intense.

We are over the moon excited to announce that this summer, we'll be moving to Charlottesville, VA! C has accepted a job and I couldn't be more proud. He has worked so, so hard towards this goal and never wavered. Even more, we'll be moving to such an amazing city and have plans to spend a long, long time there.

The thought of finally being able to put some roots down and settle in somewhere is so exhilarating - I think it's been something we've been craving for a long time. Stability. A church. A triathlon team (again!). A home!!

We've found a place to rent for a year while we look for a house. It's the cutest little spot in this adorable neighborhood. Moving plans are all set and everything is coming together. I'm also feeling very fortunate to be able to keep my job through December and work remotely.

For those of you who have been following along on this blog, thank you for all your support and encouragement. We're ready for this new chapter!

the ruffle crop top bikini

I'm headed to the beach this weekend for a bachelorette party for my sweet friend and I'm ready to get some sun on my pasty white skin. This weekend snuck up on me a little bit so I had to scramble to pick up a few new swimsuits. While browsing, I noticed this crop top ruffle thing is all the rage. I'm stoked because I think this style looks adorable and especially helps to enhance us "less fortunate" ladies.

Luckily, Zappos saved the day with their awesome 1 business day shipping policy. I was able to scoop up a few suits from my current favorite brand, Splendid, which quickly arrived on my doorstep. I was thrilled try on this suit and matching bottoms as well as this one which offers two different top styles (this and this). I ended up settling on the both styles but had to forgo the second crop top (overkill). This style is definitely a winner in my opinion. Excited to rock these suits this weekend. While I'm at it, I'll also mention I'm loving this style from VS as well as the ever popular bustier style as well.

summer internship

We're really excited to announce that C will be spending 10 weeks in Austin, Texas working for an endowment...specifically UT's endowment! It's a really great opportunity and I couldn't be more proud of C for landing such a great job. So for June through the first few weeks in August, C will be working away back in the great state of Texas. It'll be a huge adjustment for us this summer but I'm hoping to be able to make a few trips out there. Austin is a city that we truly love. It's probably the only city I'd go back to in Texas. I just love all the outdoor activities - water, mountains, wine country, etc. The music. The food. It's all really so great.

There's a chance you might see a little more blogging around these parts over the summer since I'll have a LOT of free time on my hands with C away. Any tips for surviving a short-term long-distance marriage?

In the meantime, it's ready to put these boots to use!
